El Dorado

EL+Dorado.jpg

West Australian four piece outfit El Dorado are a groove based band splicing southern whisky rock and urban, lager blues. Pre-occupied and dedicated to percolating catchy riffs, contagious choruses, and body rocking beats, this wild bunch has more rusty hooks than a retiree’s tackle box. Current members are located in a variety of locales from Perth to Bunbury and regularly converge to share tall stories, quench a thirst, and pan out the specks of gold from the bottom of the bottle.

Carla Geneve

carla+geneve+photo.jpeg

Carla Geneve is an 18 year old singer-songwriter hailing from the songwriter affluent Great Southern coastal city of Albany, in West Australia. Carla's music is shaped by her experience as a south-west teenager, though her peers, local industry and music fans of all ages are touting her as the best talent to come from this music town in decades. Her debut EP ‘Storm in a Teacup’ was released as a 15 year old and it pricked ears locally and across West Australia’s South West, producing offers from Fairbridge Festival (2016) and the Nannup Music Festival (2017). Acutely literate, Carla's songwriting is delivered with dynamically robust vocals, a voice also found out front of Albany based Grunge Rock peddlers Locust. Citing influences including The Drones, Courtney Barnett and Mia Dyson, Carla casually slings from blatantly honest folk tunes on a mandolin to her rock lording Gibson SG effortlessly. In 2017 Carla is completing WAAPA’s Diploma of Contemporary music and her new track ‘Sharknet’ features on WAM’s Sounds of the Great Southern compilation (released May 27). Carla will be touring with Perth Indi Rock favourites Rag n Bone through the Wheatbelt in mid-May before heading into the studio in late 2017.

Indigo

Indigo.jpg

Indigo are a four piece Alt-Rock outfit from Southwestern Australia. Having had their fair share of success, the boys continue to work hard making a statement in the Australian music industry. They have entered (and won) Ampfest and Stagebound competitions, were invited to the Southbound, Hyperfest and State Of The Art festivals, and have recently supported acts such as The Jungle Giants, Tired Lion and Shannon Noll. After several line-up changes Chris (Lead singer) and Josh (Drummer) stumbled across two friends Dylan (Lead Guitar) and David (Bass Guitar) at a local open mic night. From then onwards the Indigo boys decided to clean the slate, releasing their single and video clip Moving On, selling out several hometown shows. Thereupon taking a very different thoughtful approach to writing and recording the brand new EP Kumiho, Indigo teamed up with fastidious engineer Matt Gio (San Cisco, Abbe May, Birds of Tokyo) - putting one of Perth's most promising bands in the hands of one of its most successful producers. Recently touring Western Australia for their latest EP ‘Kumiho’, the boys are back to the drawing board playing with a whole new set of sounds. “We’ve learned so much from the last EP, we know exactly how we want this next one.. we’re recording/producing it all ourselves too so we have so much more time and creative control which is even more exciting” Guitarist Dylan explains Due for release late 2017, the new EP is looking to take them to another level.

Erin Pope

Erin Pope

Erin+Pope.jpg

Erin Pope began singing and song writing during seeding time on the family farm in the Eastern Wheatbelt when the tractor radio gave out. She soon decided that learning to play the guitar would complete the picture. Two and a half years later, in between university studies and traveling, she now plays at events in the Wheatbelt and local venues in Fremantle. Tales of Erin’s backpacking adventures through Vietnam, Nepal and Ethiopia come out in her music, which is a blend of acoustic, folk and blues. What Erin loves most about gigs where she grew up is that it’s a full-blown family affair with relatives and neighbours rallied up to gather a crowd. She says having the opportunity to play for people who have been a major part of her life is pretty special. Erin is passionate about sharing stories from home, both the good and the bad, with mates in the city to offer insight into the rural way of life. She says, sadly, car crashes seem to be a big part of that. She chose to become a WAMbassador because she wanted to share a road safety message with her community that even if you’re not directly involved in a car crash, it doesn’t mean you don’t feel the impact. Writing songs helps her process those feelings and it’s something she can share with her family, mates and community.

Isla Imogen

Isla+Imogen.jpg

Once upon a time there lived an 18 year old girl named Isla Imogen. Isla was born and raised in the magical tree ridden, beautiful beach driven tourist town called Denmark. Although Isla was average in size and couldn’t play sport to save her life, she had an ear catching knack for writing quirky jazz/folk songs on her acoustic guitar. This little talent presented its self as worthy after it granted Isla a spot to play at the Fairbridge Folk Festival, being one of ‘The Quest’ winners in 2015 and also a performer at the Nanga Festival in 2016. These conquests inspired Isla to continue her study in the area of music, forcing her to leave her beloved Great Southern region and travel south to Perth where she now resides, Studying Jazz at WAAPA. Currently She is working on writing more songs inspired by musicians such as Cosmo Pyke, 30/70 and Vulfpeck. Letting her muse’s ideas mix in her head to create an enigmatic sound of rap, soul, jazz and of course, her small town roots of folk and reggae. With aspirations of a band and lots of learning to be done, Isla will soon create a new story to follow this one.
