In September 2017, Perth indie- rockers, Hibiscus launched their thrilling new single ‘Magnify The Seizure,’ which was just a little teaser of what they have in store over the next year . In the upcoming few months, Hibiscus will be getting busy in the studio with the hopes of releasing an EP in early 2018, allowing them to fully show off their diverse song-writing ability, and define their sound to an even greater extent. Hayden Atterton’s smooth vocals and fluent lyrics, alongside James Pratley’s melodic guitar riffs proves to be a winning combination—the pair’s first song for the band, ‘Wish Away’, received airplay on dozens of radio stations, was given several published reviews, and reached the top 10 in 89.7fm’s Top 20 WA songs of 2016. In July of 2017, Michael Hilliard (bass guitar) and Leo Kenneth Downsborough (drums) were officially welcomed to the line-up, following a number of successful performances with the likes of Small Town Heroes, Great Gable, Young Robin and even a sold out tour show with Ocean Alley. Renowned British bands such as Oasis, Arctic Monkeys, and The Stone Roses can be heard in Hibiscus’ music, often mixing upbeat indie rock grooves, driven guitar riffs, dirty instrumental breaks and powerful vocal hooks. This idea is highlighted in their latest track, ‘Magnify the Seizure’, in which the band teamed up with Andy Lawson, one of Perth’s most respectable producers.
